Summary of Experience
Dr. Saeger specializes in applying economic and financial analysis to complex commercial problems, with a particular focus on matters related to banking and financial institutions, tax litigation, and valuation. He has led teams supporting academic and industry experts in a variety of cases, including international arbitrations and litigation related to bank regulatory actions, residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), transfer pricing, and securities lending. He has also supported experts in a number of non-litigation assignments related to financial regulatory matters. Key recent cases involved supporting multiple experts in international arbitrations related to the resolution of three European banks, and analysis of damages and loss causation issues in several major RMBS litigation cases. He assists clients in all stages of litigation and arbitration, including identifying experts, aiding in the preparation of expert reports, and providing support in depositions, trials, and hearings.
Prior to joining Analysis Group, Dr. Saeger gained significant regulatory and policy experience related to international banking and finance issues. He held several positions at the US Department of the Treasury during the Asian financial crisis, including deputy director of the Office of East Asian Nations and special assistant to Assistant Secretary for International Affairs Timothy Geithner. Dr. Saeger also worked on banking supervision issues at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where his responsibilities included analysis of the Japanese banking crisis and leadership of the bank’s International Supervision Unit.
