Manager, Boston

Why did you choose Analysis Group?
I chose AG as an analyst because I wanted a balance between an academic environment and a business environment. I chose AG again, after business school, because I loved working at a highly collaborative, team-based firm, surrounded by highly intelligent, motivated people who prioritize investing and mentoring in others.
Have you worked with any affiliates or experts? What was that experience like?
I have worked with a range of academic and industry experts, both internal and external. Every experience is different and requires learning what each expert needs to feel prepared for depositions, hearings, and trials. It’s always humbling to work with people who have thought so deeply about a subject. They’re able to provide insights that I would otherwise not think of, even if they are not as close to the data and documents as I am.
How does life at Analysis Group compare to grad school?
It’s easier here. In business school, you work on teams of peers whose priorities can diverge a lot from yours. At AG, everyone is engaged and motivated to work towards one goal: getting the work product to the best quality possible while supporting your team.
What do you think of the case team dynamic?
Trust is an essential part of AG’s culture, and, for me, that is the critical piece of the case team dynamic. Having trust in your colleagues creates a very positive and motivating work environment.
What is it like to work in your office? What is the culture there?
I find that the culture in the Boston office is, “Do your job – but don’t take yourself too seriously.” For example, I have been involved in pranking recently promoted colleagues; I know several people with candy subscriptions to feed office neighbors (including me); and many people make it a practice to stop by others’ offices daily to say hello.
How do you find a suitable work/life balance?
During busy times, I communicate frequently with my teams to make sure that we’re all taking some time to disconnect. I also make a conscious effort to take regular vacations throughout the year, rather than save up vacation, to keep myself refreshed and motivated.
